Determine weight of load and select the proper rigging to protect and precisely lift, lower, transport, place, turn and position various loads, assuring safety of the load, personnel and equipment. Work normally consists of large fabrications and components where normal care is required. 4. Operate cab crane by observing and reading of hand signals of others or direct and guide cab crane operators to properly lift, lower, transport, turn, locate and position various apparatus and equipment assuring the safety of the load, personnel and equipment. 5. Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Maintain preventive maintenance records and report all unsafe conditions to supervision. Check rigging and handling equipment for defects before use and according to schedule. 6. Maintain in effect certifications for slinging and operating cranes by taking and passing periodic written and operational tests. 7. Perform work of equal or lower level as required. This is a Union represented position. High School Diploma or equivalent GED. A minimum of 2 years work experience Operating cranes and a variety of rigging equipment such as chains, slings and wire rope. A minimum of 2 years as a certified crane operator. US citizenship is required.
